H U N G E R P L A N

Live, Durational, 19 Days

Kate Guelke is holding up a sign with H U N G E R P L A N written across it at Irish Famine memorials. She is having two instant polaroids taken to document her presence - one to leave at each memorial site, and one to include as part of her project archive. The title of the work refers to the Nazi policy of weaponising starvation in Eastern Europe during WWII, post Operation Barbarossa. This plan was included in Göring's Green Folder, which was used as evidence at the Nuremberg Trials (Exhibit USSR 10). The artist is limiting her caloric intake to 330 calories per day, reflecting current food access conditions in Gaza.
